Manipuri Singing Bowls:
Manipuri bowls are mostly used for personal relaxation and meditation and are known for the beautiful, low shape that sits well in the palm of the hand.
These bowls in the past used to be considered valuable goods or curency which was traded or given to others as a symbol of love, respect or kept as a symbol of wealth, akin to gold and silver today.
Manipuri are old bowls, at least 100-300 years old they consist of 2 main types, one type is made of a softer alloy and the other hard. All the bowls are traditional 7 metal alloy.
Many of the bowls are highly decorated with symbolic sun motifs, concentric circles and ritual slashes. some are worn smooth with age and use, others have faint decoration still remaining. The harder bowls generally have retained the decoration.
